About Hugh

Hugh Ruxton

On qualifying from the British School of Osteopathy in 1986, experience was gained working in a number of practices around the Midlands. In 1988, I took the leap to becoming self-employed by setting up my own practice in Bridgnorth, and a short time later, a practice in Wolverhampton.

Keen to extend my training, I studied Traditional Chinese Acupuncture for three years at the British College of Acupuncture. Qualifying in 1993, I have successfully combined the two therapies ever since.

Understanding the long-term benefit that corrective exercise gives to patients, I completed a course as a Level 3 Pilates Instructor and incorporated this into my practice too.

With an ongoing thirst for knowledge, I continue to do many courses with a special interest in:

  • Pilates and the prescription of exercises appropriate to the individual
  • The role of surgery and injections in upper and lower limb disorders
  • The evidence base (i.e. the scientific proof) for osteopathy and acupuncture

On a personal level, I continue to compete in Triathlons and numerous Cyclosportive events. You can catch me swimming with Northgate swim club early mornings or cycling with Rideventures. I also play Alto Saxophone with Stretton Swing Band – a Jazz/Swing Band based in Church Stretton, who are always looking to play at gigs locally.
